As part of our ongoing ‘3 minute series’ of blog posts, we’re chatting to various members of the talented gomo team around the world to get to know them a bit better. Today we’re talking to Jeff Fissel, gomo’s VP of Solutions, who is based in our Washington DC office.
Hi Jeff. Tell us about yourself—who are you?
Hello! I’m the VP of Solutions at gomo and I’m based in the Washington, DC area. I became part of the gomo team when Learning Technologies Group (gomo’s parent company) bought PeopleFluent in June of 2018. Our company, KZO Innovations (which became gomo video), was acquired PeopleFluent about five years earlier, and I have been fortunate to be a part of this great company since the beginning. In my free time, I love spending time outdoors and on the water. I really enjoy sailing and working on boats.
What’s your greatest achievement?
This is a tough question. I did once snowboard down a mountain dressed as a gingerbread man.
On the professional side, I am very proud of what we did at KZO Innovations over the last 12 years. We bootstrapped the company, got our first customer (Cisco Systems), raised venture capital, grew the business and eventually sold it to PeopleFluent/Bedford Funding in 2013. It was a crazy ride and we had an amazing team over the years to help us do it.
What do you do at gomo?
As VP of Solutions, I get to help people figure out the best way to implement and use video to solve their business requirements. This involves not only direct gomo customers but also other Learning Technologies Group (LTG) companies. I’m also helping with a broader strategy around video and building engaging learning experiences for LTG customers.
Why do you love working at gomo?
This is easy: the people! Everyone on the team is fantastic and excited about what they are doing. It is a pleasure to get to work with people who are constantly pushing and challenging me every day.
Finally, favorite chocolate bar and why?
This may be controversial, but I’m not a sweets guy. I am much more into the salty snacks. So if you forced me to pick a chocolate, I’d go with chocolate-covered pretzels.
Now that you know Jeff Fissel better, we’d love to get to know you too. If you want to find out more about us then get in touch to speak to a member of the team.
