Training a global workforce through Gomo’s translation capabilities

Providing consistent training in different languages used to be a complex challenge for businesses, but Gomo makes it easy. One of the first options you can provide when training a global workforce is the opportunity for learners to pick their preferred languages. Let’s take a look at how Gomo takes the hassle out of eLearning content translation.

Here at Gomo, we pride ourselves on giving you a truly versatile authoring tool that enables you to create and seamlessly deliver world-class learning no matter how your needs evolve.

We often hear from organizations of all sizes who are looking for a solution that will support them as they scale up or provide learning to a global workforce. Our translation capabilities give you the power to deal with these distribution challenges.

Meeting the needs of learners in more than 160 languages

By using the world’s leading authoring tool, you can negate the previously costly, resource-heavy demands of accurately converting your eLearning content into lots of different languages.

Wherever your learners are, it’s likely we can make translation easy for you because of the wide number of different languages we support. Taking into account regional variations, Gomo currently supports a total of 161 different languages.

For example, we can support eLearning content in 18 types of Arabic, a dozen variations of English, five styles of Serbian and a selection of 21 Spanish languages.

And as you might have gathered from our mention of Arabic, we support right-to-left languages (such as Hebrew and Urdu) and languages written in character form. These include Chinese and its variations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, as well as Greek.

Selecting the right languages for training a global workforce

Once you’ve started a project in Gomo, you will be given the choice of the default language on a drop-down menu.

You are then provided with the option to select multiple other languages.

To allow learners to be able to change languages, switch on the language selector button on the configuration page. Alternatively, you could use an image such as flags of the world to allow users to select their language visually.

We understand that the need to translate a course into new language can arise after the initial creation and design of the content.

Gomo gives you the flexibility to do this by going back into your course settings at any time and selecting more languages.

How to localize content for meaningful training

Localization in Gomo allows you to go beyond just translating the text. You can localize images, audio and video for each language in your course, giving users a more meaningful learning experience.

Editors in Gomo can use the language selector button to change the language being viewed, and then add in language-specific content.

Any items not yet translated or localized will display in red to give a visual indication of development progress.

For example, if your selected language is Mandarin Chinese but a text box on the page contains instructions in English, the box will be shown in red.

Once the text has been changed to Mandarin Chinese, the text box will become green.

Gomo's translation capabilities are managed through XLIFF files, which provide a smart and rapid method of interchanging content between content authors and translators.

It’s just one of the ways in which our multi-lingual capabilities make your content creation and distribution easy.

No matter where in the world your learners are, Gomo can help you provide high-quality, localized training for your learners. Click here to see the full list of Gomo-supported languages.
