Empower your employees with offline learning

by Emily Blake

Offline learning – that is, elearning taken offline – is the perfect solution for a busy workforce who are no longer chained to a desk during a traditional work day.

Many modern employees are finding themselves time-poor, under pressure and juggling multiple competing priorities in a single day. Not only do they need to execute their daily deliverables, they also have to find the time to complete ongoing workplace learning.

These challenges, coupled with often being on the move between work and home, meetings or even global offices, has given learners an on-demand learning mindset. They want to be able to access courses based on their needs and availability, instead of committing themselves to one method of learning for a fixed amount of time, as they do in traditional elearning.

There’s little doubt that any organization aiming to increase training completion levels needs to make learning content be available at any time, on any device and in any place.

The offline learning solution

We’re living in a more connected time than ever before, but that doesn’t mean we don’t sometimes find ourselves unable to connect. So what happens when the Internet fails us or just isn’t an option?

When you hear the term elearning, you probably assume that there’s an internet connection involved, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

The gomo central app solves the conundrum. Downloadable for free from the App Store or Google Play to any mobile device, the courses that are downloaded to it – via wifi or an Internet connection – become available and functional offline. Learner activity can still be fully tracked thanks to powerful Experience API (xAPI or Tin-Can) analytics and simply syncs the next time the device is connected to the Internet. So there’s no need to miss out on any learner data, quiz scores or activity that could inform future learning and business activity.
