As part of our ongoing ‘3 minute series’ of blog posts, we’re chatting to various members of the talented gomo team around the world to get to know them a bit better. If you haven’t already seen them, check out our previous ‘3 minutes’ Q&As with Director of Product Development Gavin Beddow, Business Development Manager in the US Thom Tate, Lead Test & Support Guru Pratibha Shah, Developer James Hough, Senior Mobile Architect Adam Fox and Marketing Operations Manager Elle Brown. Now let’s meet gomo’s Managing Director and the public ‘face’ of gomo, Mike Alcock.
Tell us about yourself – who are you?
I’m Mike Alcock, Managing Director of gomo. When I’m not working on gomo I’m keeping fit (I try and get to the gym at least six days a week) or spending time with my family before my children all flee the nest. My other passion is messing about on boats and I spend a lot of my leisure time on the water.
What’s your greatest achievement?
I’m on my second authoring tool product now – my first was Atlantic Link for those with long memories. So I guess I’d have to say it’s that I’ve been able to work with a great new team to make an even better product than my last one.
What do you do at gomo?
I have full responsibility for every aspect of gomo, including profit and loss, sales and marketing, and product development. It’s my job to look after our team as well. I’m generally the public face of the gomo business. I’m also part of the senior management team at our parent company, Learning Technologies Group plc (LTG), and work with the other MDs in the group to ensure that we’re delivering a total solution to our mutual customers.
Why do you love working at gomo?
First and foremost, I love innovating, and helping to create and deliver a world-class software product. I also love working with a hugely talented team, without whom gomo would just be an idea. I especially enjoy working the stand at our exhibitions and seeing people’s reactions to our latest cool features. Finally, I love meeting customers (and potential customers), finding out what they’d like in a piece of software, and then working with the gomo team to deliver it.
Finally, favorite chocolate bar and why?
Double Decker – I’ve got a fleet of them.
We love getting to know people here at gomo, so if you want to find out more about us then get in touch to speak to a member of the team.
