Real stories, real results: How Gomo helps customers around the world deliver multi-language eLearning

If you’re tasked with offering eLearning in diverse languages, Gomo can make it much easier for you to create, translate, deliver, and manage your training content. We do just that (and more!) for organizations around the world. Read on to see how we helped three of these organizations cut complexity and streamline their multi-language course offerings.

“The tool’s multilingual capability is naturally perfect for our international audience—the English content was easy to export and hand to our translators, and once they were done, importing their localized versions was just a simple.” - Shona Henderson, Director of Global Learning Solutions at Humanitarian Leadership Academy

Offering ease and simplicity for L&D teams with thousands of global learners

As an instructional designer, it won't be news to you that L&D pros tend to have a lot on their plates. At Gomo, our customers often offer training to a sizable group of learners in organizations with a dispersed base and a complex learning environment.

This is exactly the case for Warner Music Group. This international collective navigates a challenging training landscape, with an approximately 5,500-strong workforce segmented into various teams and departments.

Humanitarian Leadership Academy is in a similar boat. This non-profit global learning initiative provides training to more than 200,000 volunteers and professionals worldwide.

TDK Corporation faces a herculean task too. This global electronics company operates across Asia, Europe, and North and South America. It employs around 107,000 people, filling a diverse mixture of blue- and white-collar roles.

What do all three organizations have in common? The desire to offer engaging and effective training in several different languages to thousands of learners—no matter how daunting the task.

This is where Gomo comes in. We’re helping hardworking L&D teams at these organizations deliver the very best eLearning to support their organization's goals.

“Our goal is to create visually pleasing and interactive content to make learning fun, interesting, and improve knowledge retention. Gomo’s numerous interactive assets give our local authors considerable flexibility to create such courses. Assets such as the accordion have enabled us to bundle thematically similar information in a clear and concise manner, thereby preventing a cluttered course appearance, especially when viewing the content on mobile devices.” - Panagiotis Argyropoulos, HR Service Partner, Training & Development Department, TDK

Streamlined multi-language course creation, management, and delivery

Gomo simplifies the process of creating, translating and localizing, and maintaining courses in several different languages. The Humanitarian Leadership Academy is a prime example, as this organization offers volunteers courses in English, French, and Arabic, covering a wide range of formats including on-demand webinars, videos, guides, and assessments.

Thanks to our easy-peasy XLIFF exports, the organization’s training team can easily export English language content, perform French and Arabic translation, and import the resulting XLIFF files back into the system in just a few clicks. Gomo automatically accommodates the right-to-left Arabic version on both desktop and mobile, saving the L&D team from having to manually fiddle with the typesetting.

TDK also benefits from our multi-language features. One of Gomo's key benefits is simplifying course management by allowing instructional designers to create a single course and then embed several translated layers into it, removing the need to manage and update courses in multiple languages. This is particularly valuable for TDK’s L&D team, given the fact that they’re tasked with delivering training material in 10 different languages.

Thanks to Gomo, the team can now rely on a single file for every course, simplifying quality assurance, course delivery, and the management of its course catalog on the LMS. As mentioned above, Gomo’s responsiveness ensures that training works perfectly on mobile devices. This is just as essential for TDK as for the Humanitarian Leadership Academy, as device habits vary greatly from region to region or job to job.

“Partnering with Gomo for our in-house content creation needs has allowed us to remove the roadblocks for our SMEs. We’re able to centrally set the standards, accessibility, and language requirements for our content, ensuring that SMEs don’t get bogged down in the authoring world and allowing them to focus on getting their invaluable knowledge into the hands of our people.” - Josh Novelle, Senior Director of People Experience and Insights, Warner Music Group

“The Gomo team not only sped up their microlearning creation plans to assist us in training our authors, they also worked with our regional colleagues to create and incorporate captions for this training in languages such as Japanese. Their flexibility and willingness to support us to overcome this challenge has allowed us to achieve our goal of training more than 150 authors worldwide within the first year of introducing Gomo.” - Panagiotis Argyropoulos, HR Service Partner, Training & Development Department, TDK

Simple, intuitive cloud-based collaboration and easy authoring for less experienced authors

For Warner Music Group, course creation is all about empowering subject matter experts (SMEs). Gomo’s intuitive layout facilitates easy instructional design, allowing authors to showcase their expertise even without much authoring experience.

Instead of cumbersome offline review rounds, SME content creators can collaborate in the cloud and swiftly receive feedback, amendments, and best-practice guidance from the Group’s learning professionals, ensuring that all eLearning maintains a high level of quality. The learning team is also able to centrally take care of language requirements for its diverse learners, meaning SMEs can do what they do best—share their expertise—while learning pros can easily handle the more technical aspects of catering to a diverse learner base.

TDK is also benefiting from Gomo’s intuitive course design features. After a few years of successfully using Gomo, the L&D team decided to scale up its efforts to include different authors across the globe. At the same time, the team here at Gomo launched Gomo Academy—our microlearning training video library. We worked with TDK to ensure we support its needs so Japanese-speaking authors could make use of the videos. Gomo Academy now provides self-service information for even rookie authors looking to quickly learn how to use the tool. This empowers local authors to contribute to the learning content pool, ensuring learners from across the globe can access relevant content that keeps them engaged.

Gomo’s support for display conditions and branching paths ensures this learning content always functions optimally for learners. Even within specific languages, there are often small regional differences to account for, which is something TDK’s L&D team is keenly aware of, given their diverse learner base. Granular branching capabilities empower their team to ensure content is always consumed in the correct order, so learners of translated courses are never short changed.
